Ascend Dance Academy has been specifically designed to introduce children, teenagers, and young adults to the art form of dance.
When you join a dance class they are often not yet ready for the highly structured, high pressure, and old school methodologies taught in many dance schools.
This can often scare them away from the art of dance, which we believe is an essential tool to raise a child on.
Ascend Dance Academy is the perfect entry point for your dancer into the dance world, whether being for a hobby, for fun, or for eventual advanced employment and performances. While your dance is trained with us, they unknowingly seamlessly develop a ground base for principles such as discipline, respect, while at a level they are comfortable at allowing them to enjoy the process.
If you believe like we do that every child deserves to start out life with the confidence to succeed, then dance is essential in their upbringing. At Ascend we achieve this through the below four (4) pillars of our program that set them up for success from day one (1)!
From their first day at Ascend, our dancers will start to have what we call 'little wins'. By generating a pattern of success in class, they learn that their actions can succeed and this pattern continues out of the dance academy. Success isn't one large action done once, it is a pattern of consistency over their whole life. And Ascend establishes that pattern of success!
The social skills learnt in class are an essential building block of dancers confidence. To have healthy relationships with their peers here sets them up for boundaries later in life to be able to identify what a good peer relationship looks like. In other words, they will learn to build healthy peer groups and avoid the negative influences at school.
We have seen dancers entering classes at older ages are unable to complete a lot of the basic body to speech links that are necessary to maintain positive control of their movement and safety. Ascend teachers them important skills like 'left and right sides', forwards and back, stop and start, and communication with bullies and possible threats (stranger danger commands and help seeking).
It's important for all children, teenagers and young adults to to have an adequate developed body mind connections. A lot of children begin to start to struggle with group activity at the age of 3-4 as they begin to need higher level skills than they are able to learn at school and home. At Ascend we teach them all the important physical skills like jumping on two feet, safe rolling, throwing and many others, ensuring your kids aren't left behind physically as they enter school!
